At 07:30 on December 4, the 2016 Baoan International Marathon started at the south gate of the Baoan District Government. 16000 contestants from home and abroad crossed the starting line of Baoan District Government South Gate, their first marathon journey in Baoan were opening.

This marathon, the first station of "the Belt and Road "marathon series, attracted more than 16000 runners from home and abroad, including 4000 in the marathon, 6000 in the half-marathon and 6000 in the carnival. The event also invited 25 contestants from nine countries, Kenya, Ethiopia, Mongolia, Chile, Poland, Iran, Germany, France and Morocco.
